Bonehead of the Week Discussion
Sunday June 12th, 2011
1. Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daly:
Made sure to leave the residents of Chicago with no city fireworks for the 4th of July holiday in an “effort to reduce taxpayer expenses”…reportedly several hundred thousand dollars in police expenses. That concern for saving the taxpayers money wasn’t on display then when Hizzoner requested an around the clock, permanent, armed security detail…at taxpayer expense…for his own protection since leaving office. Seems the corrupt former mayor of Chicago has no problems when firearms are used to protect his own ass.
BONEHEAD of the Week
2. Ashley Rachel
Ms. Rachel penned a column for the website eHow titled “Do you need a gun license for a .22 caliber”?
The column was so rife with factual errors, such as the claim that a .22 caliber pistol buyer needs to “complete a federal firearms license application”…you know, the form necessary to become a DEALER… that the author was an instant decision for the BOW award.. Good heavens. Ms. Rachel has a degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia. I wonder if they taught her to do basic fact checks before making a fool of herself? Although the piece was penned in December of 2010, the statute of limitations for boneheadedness never runs out. You may view her idiocy right here:

BONEHEAD of the Week.

Mark –
When is someone going to tie Project Gunrunner to why this was really being allowed to take place? The concept that BATFE would allow 3700+ firearms to enter Mexico for the reasons of trying to follow the trail of illegally traded firearms is absurd on its face.
The real reasons are a lot deeper and stem from our Presidents inability to pass another “Assault Weapons” import ban and /or the Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty. He owes people in the anti-gun crowd and will need their money next November.
Sec State Hillary Clinton, AG and the President are all very aware that no new domestic firearms control legislation or international arms trade treaty could possibly be approved or ratified by the current congress…unless it could be shown that such an egregious situation existed that such legislation/treaty could not be ignored…or voted against.
So, how do you do this? You facilitate the movement of firearms into a war zone that exists on your own border. And when these guns start showing up at the scenes of mass homicides or shootouts with the police and the military you say; “See, we told you so. It is American guns fueling the drug war in Mexico. We have to stop this.” I mean heck, it’s only Mexicans getting killed, right? And drug trafficking Mexicans to boot, right. Or does it matter who gets hurt at all as long as it suits our end game goals.
Yet, no one seems to want to go out on a limb to say this. If you’re going to wait until the presidential “smoking gun” is discovered this whole story will be over.
For what it is worth, I could not agree with Rob’s comments more than I already do. This was very well stated by the way.

Love the show!!! I have to down load it on my MP3 and listen to it during the week while working but the great thing is that I can hear it as many times as I like. I also keep a folder on my desktop (named AAR) just to keep all your shows in so I can go back to them.
Thanks for all you do. Keep up the good work.

A story came out this morning about a man in Idaho that is being fined for killing a Grizzly that came close to the mans house and was threatening his kids. The Feds initially wanted to put him in jail. The links below will get you the narrative of the story. Fox has a video. Or goole “Man Fined for Killing Grizzly Bear to Protect His Family”. The mainstream will probably drop this story an not say anything else about it.

My adventures in Concealed carry…
Well this all started almost a year ago, probably about 8-9 months total I think. Myself and a few friends decided to take a pistol training course. It’s required here in my county before you are allowed to file for your carry permit. My father had some pistols from his father and his father before him that had been passed down and I found out that I would not be able to take possession of them unless I had a permit even if I didn’t want to carry them. So should anything happen to my father, under the law here in NYS, I would not even be able to take possession of these family heirlooms, they would go to the Sheriff where they would wait for a period of time and then be destroyed.
So, I took the class (25 bucks) and got the loads of paperwork I needed to complete. First thing I had to do was find three friends who would fill out and sign this stuff stating that I’m a good citizen. Finally did that and you find out just who your friends are in this too, not just everyone is willing to sign something saying that they think you can carry a pistol. So then the next step was to make an appointment with the pistol clerk at the county seat. That took….hmmmm about 2 ½ months to get that, there is only one clerk who does everything pistol related for the whole county and apparently there has been a HUGE influx of people getting permits.
So, finally got the appointment. More paperwork and more money, application fee, processing fee, background fee, fingerprinting fee…all ended up at about 170.00 bucks, non-refundable of course no matter what the result. So then everything was in, she said I should hear something by July. Hmmm…not too bad I think to myself, that’s about the amount of time I was told to expect. So then I wait…and wait…and wait until finally July comes around and I call. I find out that the application is in Albany for the Mental Health evaluation along with about 200 others. So, I wait a little longer and then I start googleing.
Low and behold I find out that in NYS there is a question on the permit application that asks if you have ever been hospitalized in a mental health facility. At the Department of Mental Health in the state capital there is a small room of people who look at that box and double check it then they are supposed to send along the application back to the county of origin. Well…when our new Governor took office he decided to make cuts in the budget and where did (the democratic) Governor decided to cut? Yes that’s right, the Pistol Permit part of the Department of Health (not the actual Department of Health, just the part that checks pistol permits). He cut that room full of people down to just one person. So, then some time later that one last person in that office suddenly has some sort of freak health issue and dies! So that’s it, no one is in the office to check those forms and apparently no one is doing anything about hiring anyone to replace them.
So finally someone notices all the applications piling up on this desk and they decide to hire someone for the job. Do they bring back one of the people they just recently layed off? No, they hire a brand new person who had no idea how to do the job and again, time goes on and on and applications pile up and up and up. Finally after a few months and more than one county executive complaining the state finally brings back someone who knows how to do the job and applications start moving.
So I call again and find that my application is finally back in my county and after about a month after that I get the letter saying that I was granted the permit and I could pick it up in the County office (of course only 9-5 on business days mind you and I have an office job so I had to take time off of work to do this)…oh and by the way…another 10 bucks for the actual permit and 3 bucks to register a handgun to it (each handgun you intend to use and or own has to be added to it or if you sell one has to be removed and it’s 3 bucks for each move).
So finally today after nearly a year I have my concealed carry permit and can carry a handgun anytime I want…well…as long as it’s not near a school or a government building, or anywhere in New York City. Oh and my work also has a no weapon policy but hey other than that….I finally have the right granted to me by the constitution and fought and defended by millions of Americans.
Sorry for the length of this but thanks for reading!

Read Rob Dunhams’note and I thoroughly agree with him. We need to continue to fight for our God given rights. I can’t seem to find a ststion that is close enough to get the signal. I live in Middleburg, Florida which is south-east of Jacksonville, Florida ,(thats about 35 miles south-east of Jacksonville out in a rural area). Keep up the good work and if you can advise me of a ststion that I can listen to. Thank you in advance. Ron Paulk
I would like to see Kathy Castor of FL get a bonehead award. Below is her response to my email asking her to support our 2nd Admendment Rights. She just does not get it!
Dear Rose,
Thank you for sharing your views on current legislation concerning firearm regulations within the country. I appreciate you taking the time out to share your views with me.
As you know, Congress continues to debate the efficiency and constitutionality of federal regulation of firearms and ammunition.
However, the recent tragedy in Tucson, Arizona and the horrifying circumstances surrounding Representative Gabrielle Giffords has generated a significant amount of debate with regards to gun control legislation and related policies in our nation. Historically, gun control issues have always been a controversial matter. Though I believe the Second Amendment acknowledges an individual’s entitlement to bear arms, I also encourage rational gun control laws and regulations that help assure the safety of all Americans and keep our communities out of harm’s way. Rest assured I will keep your views in mind as we consider all related firearm and gun legislation.
Again, thank you for contacting me, and please feel free to contact me in the future if I may be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Kathy Castor
Member of Congress
Perhaps it’s time that stores that support guns post a sign on there door!
I don’t know if I can post a link on here, but just caught something very interesting on the CBS News website….looks like someone in the MSM is finally admitting what Fast and Furious was all about.

Anti-gunner TV!!!
OMG!! I was flipping channel’s tonight and ran across Current TV and a program called Arming the Mexican Cartel.
Want to talk about making your blood boil? This had to have been funded by the anti-guners!!! It was hard to watch but at the same time is was good to know what kind of things some people are watching and how these people form such wrong ideals about the pro-gun folks.
The program showed things in it’s own way. however could not present facts to back up what they want us to beleave. Like they talked about Fast and Furious, even went so far as to talk to an ATF person about it. This person could not confirm or deny any facts of any kind but he could say what these people wanted to further the point they wanted to push with NO facts to back it up.
It’s amazing how they used an hour to push an Ideal with Not One Fact to back it up. It was really hard to watch!!!
At least when you listen to the pro-gun side you get facts, facts and more facts to back up what they say.
I love listening to AAR!
Thank You and God Bless
Kent
Mark,
I would like to see you enact a “Bone Head of the Week” Hall of Fame. It would be perfect for certain perennial “Bone Head’s” that infringe upon our 2nd Ammendment rights on a continual basis. It could also be bestowed upon citizens who do things with firearms that make the rest of us look bad. Give it a thought.
Chris Zukowski
hi, i heard of a 61 year old man in new hampshire who fired a shot into THE GROUND to halt a burgler crawling out of his neighbors window. he was arrested at the scene. this sounds incredibly bizarre. can the arresting officer get a bonehead of the month award on this one?
Mark et al,
Here’s a nomination for the BOW for your March 4th radio show – University of Texas law professor Calvin Johnson, who stated that the school shooting in Ohio this week was a “typical exercise” of the second amendment. Here’s the story with links to original sources: http://freebeacon.com/politicizing-tragedy/
Eric Holder should get the title of Bonehead Nonpareil in Perpetuity. He is clearly an affirmative-action hire. I cannot see how people like this guy could ever get a real job which is why we see him where he is.
Holder thinks that Jesse Jackson and Marion Barry are “…people who have credibility with young people”. That is HIS idea of credibility -a felonious “John” and a shake-down artist “minister”. When he says “our young people” it is code for “inner-city minority thugs”. I suppose for Holder’s audience these guys ARE respected role-models.
He thinks that the schools should “send the message” that it’s not “…hip to carry guns” but these same schools can’t even teach these fetal-alcohol-and-drugs offspring to read a book or multiply two numbers. Maybe they need bigger “Weapon Free Zone” signs for the illiterate. Maybe they just don’t understand the icon. If we had more tax money for another program we could beat this violence. Holder is a waste of valuable resources. He should get some useful job like sweeping the street in East St. Louis.
Pray that this guy is sent back to the phantom-zone or whatever circle of Hell he and Janet Reno emerged from along with his fraudulent boss, His Hopefulness.
