The What, Who, Where and Why’s of ARMED AMERICAN RADIO
WHAT
Armed American Radio is the official radio program of The United States Concealed Carry Association. As the USCCA continues to expand its reach across the US and since its flagship publication Concealed Carry Magazine has become one of, if not THE most informative gun magazine in the nation, reaching up to the next level of media outlets became a natural, no brainer.
Broadcasting LIVE every week from the studios of Intelligent Talk 920 WGKA radio studios in Atlanta, Georgia and SYNDICATED NATIONWIDE by Salem Radio Networks along with Mike Gallagher, Cal Thomas, and Bill Bennett among others, AAR is now available to any radio station in North America. Now one of the fastest growing nationally syndicated radio broadcasts in America, AAR is adding affiliate stations almost weekly. Until Armed American Radio is available in your city, you can hear the live broadcast by visiting our listen live page every Sunday evening from 8-11PM ET / 5-8PM PT
WHO
Mark Walters has been penning The Ordinary Guy column as a regular contributor to Concealed Carry Magazine for almost 5 years. An original “charter member” of the USCCA, Mark was one of the first 500 members to join the organization when it was first founded by Tim Schmidt. As a freelance writer for a local industrial trade publication and a vocal second amendment activist in Tampa, Florida, Mark had a few op-eds printed in the Tampa Tribune and was given “guest column” status on more than one occasion to print his views on a wide array of topics including the right to keep and bear arms. His book, Lessons From Armed America, written with co-author Kathy Jackson and forward by Massad Ayoob, was released in September 2009 by Whitefeather Press and is already in its 5th printing.
In November of 2002 just two weeks after the birth of his daughter Lindsey, Mark found himself the intended victim of an attempted carjacking while approaching a traffic light on E. Fletcher Ave. in the Suitcase City section of Tampa, FL at 6:20 am on his way to work. A well known drug and crime infested area bordering the University of South Florida, Mark was prepared that day with a Glock 36, 45 caliber handgun resting in a Sidearmor Kydex IWB holster. When the criminals… both of them…found themselves unable to get into the vehicle stopped just off of his left bumper, they turned their attention to him.
Watching the frightening events unfold in front of him and happening at a frantic pace, Mark un-holstered his weapon. Remaining behind the wheel of his car, he leveled his 45 at the criminal standing just feet away from him and approaching his vehicle. When confronted with a gun pointed directly at his chest, the closest attacker waved off his partner and both men retreated to their vehicle. Fleeing like the cowards they were, Mark was able to make it home alive that day.
That frightening experience became the subject of his first column with Concealed Carry Magazine titled “The Importance of Carrying Your Gun 100% of The Time”, now listed as one of Concealed Carry Magazines “Best of”.
Since that time, Mark writes about ordinary folks like you and I who have used a weapon to defend themselves as well as interviewing some of the nations biggest news makers and activists. The list includes Ted Nugent, Dick Heller, Otis McDonald, Mancow, politicians, internationally recognized trainers, weapons experts, criminal psychologists, television hosts, authors, real people who have used a firearm to defend themselves against violent attack and regular, ordinary folks who make a difference.
Mark is a member of the NRA, an NRA Certified Instructor in three disciplines, a member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation as well as a card carrying member of GeorgiaCarry.org and a vocal 2nd amendment activist in his home town. In the spare time of his “real life,” he ran his own successful business for over 13 years and now works full time to bring you Armed American Radio on the nation’s airwaves.
He also believes that anyone who has been suckered by Al Gore is, well….a sucker.
Mark defends our freedoms on AAR with the RIGHT voice at the RIGHT time and brings a frank discussion of the right to defend your life to FREEDOM loving Americans EVERY week.
WHERE
Armed American Radio is broadcast live to the nation from under the hot studio lights of Intelligent Talk 920 WGKA in Atlanta, Georgia.
WHY
Because our freedoms are at stake and because we can. We are now faced with the most ANTI-FREEDOM, GUN HATING, SOCIALIST-DRIVEN administration and agenda in our nation’s history. The timing for this program is no coincidence. Patriotic Americans are needed to stand up and defend our Constitutional rights now more than ever. The onslaught of gun-haters who want to take away your freedoms CAN NOT AND WILL NOT GO UNATTENDED BY THE USCCA and Mark Walters.

Where can I find the podcast?
Where’s the podcast? I’ve looked everywhere for the button….
i have the same question….how do i subscribe to the podcast…any chance these will be available in i-tunes….
Is there an iTunes Feed??
It is much easier than downloading them individually.
Great to see another good point of view on the net.
Where can I subscribe to the podcasts???
Agreed. A “podcast” suggests a RSS Feed that can be subscribed to (as in iTunes or Zune Marketplace).
Is there a RSS Feed?
Thanks!

Where can I find the podcast? (Second request) – your site says it exists, but I can find no links to it…also, can’t find it on iTunes (podcast search)
Dear Tim/Mark,
I am a trained voice talent and have a basic studio at home. If you need any voice work done for commercial use, PSA use or any other use you can think of, I would be willing to contribute my talent free of charge to this endeavor.
Dan
How do you link to it using IPOD? I would love to add this to my podcasts (along with a selection from the NRA and Gun Rights Radio Network)…I searched ITunes unsuccessfully for it. USCCA does an excellent job and I am proud to be a member, I am looking forward to hearing them in my car too!!!
I have forwarded your information to Wisconsin. THANK YOU for the offer. Mark
Have listened to all your broadcasts intently. The last weeks guests stated that they fired warning shots at the start of the confrontation. This is a bad idea!! First of all, you waste a round, and a fired round has to go somewhere, and in an unaimed direction it can hit what you do not intend to hit. Next, you reveal your location via the muzzle flash, giving the criminal your location where to aim at. Next, you give the criminal an “commence firing” prompt to fire back at you, and that can lead to you soaking up a slug. The first guest said that he had only one of two loaded mags, another no-no. From all the rounds he was lucky enough to place in the criminal who unfortunately lived, one can guess he was using full metal jacket ammo. Use a good hollow point only! You are justified in putting a finishing shot in a wounded criminal if he still is in possession of his weapon and could summon enough movement to fire his final shot in your direction. For the second guest, he should have slept in a bedroom in another part of the house if he was well aware that some scumbag was stalking the house and knew the layout of the inside of it. Both are lucky to be alive, none of them were properly trained and had the combat mindset required to survive a criminal attack.
Great show keep up the good work!
On your last show a 9mm was mentioned called Rurval or Rhurvall or something sounds like that. Never heard of it and was trying to look it up on the net, none of my spellings work on a search engine. Can you give the exact spelling or the web site of this gun?
Hi Jack. Check yer email my friend.
Mark,
I beleive I stumbled across the show (website) via the USCCA magzine. I have avidly listened to all the shows made available via the website, and I look forward to a day when I can here a LIVE show on my local radio station. Hopefully this show will also be more than the lone hour you currently have. Please let me know what I can do t help push forwider syndication (my local radio station?) as well as more time. By the way have you ever done radio before?
Thanks,
Dave Western NC
I don’t know if I have a problem on my end. When I try to download one of your previous braodcasts, I get a window showing the file downloading to a temporary folder. When the down load is finished I can’t find the file. I have run a search for the file name and folder name and come up with nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have downloaded the last broadcast through iTunes sucessfully and am trying to get the earlier broadcasts to the iPod.
I’m not sure if this question ever got answered, but the easiest way to get the podcast is to go to log onto to the itunes site, go to podcast, click on the power search and then in the seach space enter “ARMED AMERICAN RADIO” and it will come up.
Great stuuf, I’m a new listener but I am telling all my friends about the show and have alot of catching up to do!!!
God Bless,
JBPeach
I am a new listener as I just discovered the show last weekend. Since I am in Ohio, I have subscribed to your podcast through ITunes. I love the show! You are an absolute natural! So far, I am up to the 6-7 broadcast and look forward to each opportunity to listen to another episode. Keep up the good work!
Hey Mark,
I missed the broadcast tonite. I will catch it on the pod cast in a few days. Looking forward to hearing it.
Jim
Good job on the show. Sure was sorry to see the national reciprocity bill taken down( we’ill get it next time around)Keep up the good work…Sean
Thanks Mark for spreading the word about our great group here in Ga, GeorgiaCarry.org. In about two years we have grow from 5 members to over 4700 members and we just completed our first successful convention and were honored to have you in attendance. Thanks for being a member and helping us grow our member base as we begin to show our legislators we are a strong group of citizens who believe in our 2nd ammendment rights and we want our voices to be heard under the Gold Dome.
Mark,
Thanks for putting on such a great program. Like many other listeners have stated, I would like to see the program go longer.
I would like to encourage your listeners to get involved in the Friends of NRA program. Many people are not aware of the Friends program, even most NRA members. The Friends program is great, every dollar raised goes directly to gun education & safety programs, youth programs and woman programs.
If we really want to get serious about keeping our Second Ammendment Rights we need to support youth and woman programs more. They only reason the powers at be want to take away our rights to firearms, is because they don’t understand them and are scared of them. If more people understood how firearms be used safety and enjoyed, I believe our Second Ammendment Rights would not be in jepordy.
Thank you very much for your time and keep up the great work.
You really need to go to at least two hours, or 23.(sleep is over rated) Great show last week. Maybe my wife will carry everywhere she goes now.
Jeff is right on the money. If you know you are being stalked, stay in another part of the house. If you can get a better tactical advantage, use it! I just got the chance to try out a DPMS in .308 cal. today and will pass it off with rave reviews. I am thinking it might become a primary home defense rifle.(used with DRT ammo) or Barnes varmint grenade ammo.
Have you seen this? http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/text
Apparently another back-door sneaker into the tax code.
Nothing new here. That’s been put up for years. Check out commentary on it at NRA – http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FAQ/?s=101
I love the show. Wish I could listen to podcasts in my truck.
I have heard Mark talk about the great free state of Arizona many times. I reside in Communist County in the northern part of Arizona. Is anyone familiar with the case of the self defense trail shooting that took place several years ago? Has this been discussed this on any of the shows? This is an instance where there just has to be “more to the story”.
thank you
I live in Lawrenceville how can I listen to your broadcast?
Thanks for a GREAT show. I’m here in Washington State. We still have some gun rights, but it’s getting harder to retain them. I wish our local stations would carry your broadcast. There are a lot of like thinking good people around. Very informative program.
Thanks again!
I want to say thank you for the book “Lessons from Armed America” I read it through the first night I received it in the mail. I shared it with a buddy at work and he thought it was going to be a another conspiracy book. He was surprised that it was not. Just a book of what to expect when, if, and why you should carry.
I enjoyed chapter 4 the most.
Thanks again.
Ps. Thank you for not allowing the anti-gunners on your show. It’s about time someone takes a stand and says NO.
Mark,After listening to the last program,11-8-09. I began to think about my Dad at Whiteman A.F.B in Sadelya MO. I saw him many times carring an M-1 Carbine from the house to the motor pool and out to the hangers. He was a Tech/sarg. and a mechanic. At home it was in the hall closet or his bedroom. many many times was the routine. This was in the mid-50s. It seemed so causal. I don’t understand why the change has come about with our military. We also had an armed watch set on the “Cutters” I was on in the early 70s. Thanks for the Good Job you do. Semper Paratus (Always Ready) U.S.C.G.
Mark, Here is a subject I havn’t heard touched on yet. I should point out that almost all assasinations, mass shootings,etc.. are carried out by liberal or socialist leaning people. Could it be that the reason for the anti gunners is that they dont feel they have the mental capacity to control themselves, hence no one else can control themselves either?
Do you plan to broadcast into Phoenix, Arizona in the future. I know you now broadcast into Tucson but I can’t pull it in. Phoenix is good gun country. Humbly, Tom Todd
Please send all correspondence to mark@armedamericanradio.org I would love to hear them.
Mark,
Thanks for all your effort. Keep up the great work. I have recently started carrying on a regular basis. I carry both a Ruger P-95 and a colt 1911. I am still uncomfortable carrying cocked and locked with the 1911.How can I address this and be more comfortable with the 1911? Can you talk about this on one of your shows. Thanks
Mark I would like to send you an email telling you about my survival encounters. Perhaps they would be good for a read on your show.
We are waiting for you to come to the Phoenix area ASAP! Arizona IS a gun friendly state and we have open carry here! Even if one has a CCW, we can still carry open, unlike some other states like Utah.
It’s time to WAKE-UP America. We once stood up against the depresive laws of the British.Lets get back to OUR ROOTS.The Constitution!WE THE PEOPLE!
It would really be nice if a listing state by state where the broadcast currently is carried, could be publixshed. Providing the dial setting, station I.D. and time of broadcasts. I am primarily interested in this information for the Orlando metro area.
Thank you,
Brian
My wife and I both have ccw’s,and are excited about joining uscca.Looking forward to listening to AAR in Denver Co! Thanks, Jim
I am writing from West Virginia which proliferates a gun-friendly culture. I would like to know when you will enter the Charleston-Huntington WVa radio markets. Pleaqse keep up the good work. I sure enjoyed the interview with Mas Ayoob Sun day evening. Take care.

Mark,
This weeks audio files don’t work on my Droid phone or my Window computers. I have XP at work and Vista at home.
It looks like the file format changed to QuickTime instead of the usual MP3, but the conversion must have had problems. None of the three files will play. They download, but don’t play.
Thanks.
Wonderful stuff.. really full of usefull information. I’ll grab the RSS feed and will stay tuned for more. Oh, and I threw you a StumbleUpon vote
Any progress in the Phoenix market to play your show?? Is there any hope for Sirius Radio to pick up your show that would work if the Phx market can’t answer our call. I love the work and effort you do….Ray E.
I would enjoy listening to your Sunday night programs. I’m in southern Illinois near ST. Louis. Please advise about stations where I might pick up your broadcasts until such time as the vast majority of law-abiding Americans discover your efforts and we can all pick it up locally. It won’t be long. Keep up the good work of helping us defend ourselves against criminals and ultimately take this country back from street criminals and political criminals. MAY GOD BLESS YOUR WORK!
i carry the sig p239 357 sig for my main gun do you think it is sufficient in stopping power
