Rob’s point regarding integrated training is significant because we who carry concealed know that the typical threat becomes evident at “bad breath distance” and it is likely one would need to fight off an attacker bare handed in order to simply buy time to draw from concealment in many cases. One particularly important aspect of that is the typical victim is weak and or old and therefore, less able to fight in the first place. Dave’s comment about improvised weapons is right on target. I’d like to see USCCA regularly feature ways that women and the elderly can incorporate simple, but effective ways of ruining the bad guy’s day even when they’re out of shape and never had the time and money to study formal “sport” martial arts.
