I kept wondering what the history of this violent offender was prior to this act. There was nothing that nikkie or her husband could have done beyond what they did to discourage this offender .. the fantasy was in his mind and nothing said or done would have changed his behavior (as the law was).. hope nikkie realizes that. The law at the time made his attack easy but nikkies story and experience will save lives in the future ... small consolation but something to remember. It should prove to everyone, whether they own firearms or not, that all the laws, rules, and policies in the world don't do a thing to stop evil/deranged people bent on committing murder. I think that it's time for all of us that carry every day, myself included, to ask: is it worth it to be a 'law abiding citizen' when being such puts you at this kind of risk? Nikki was a good girl, obeyed the rules, and is now a widow. Being 'law abiding' didn't do a thing to protect her and her husband. The law be damned! A smoking gun in her hand, and the attacker dead on the floor, is what should have happened. Just my two cents worth.
